I've said all along that the reason for invading Iraq was to give the US a base for the eventual invasion of Iran and perhaps Saudi Arabia (if it should fall to the Islama-facist). It really shouldn't be any suprise if you followed Cold War WWIII senarios. We would have almost surely secured our fuel depot (Saudi Arabia) in order to fight against such a large oil producer as the USSR.
The reason G.H.W. didn't drive all the way to Baghdad during Gulf War I was because he feared destabilizing the area and creating a civil war. Funny thing was that he caught heat for his decision from the left. Now G.W. Bush does what the liberals said his father should have done and he cathches heat from the left.
Luckily for Hollywood there are people that will fight and die for their decadence.
