"The American people, regardless of their view of its legality, should not be forced to pay for someone's abortion."

Okay, does this same argument work for those of us who don't like our countries various wars? Afghanistan? Iraq? Drugs?

  1. There are a group of people who think the answer to your question is Yes: The War Resisters League. They advocate taking the portion of the national budget that they figure is devoted to war and reducing your income tax by that amount. Sounds like dangerous fun to me. The pendulum swings between teabaggers on the right and leaguers on the left...and threatens to do a full-circle loop-de-loop. Beware of all extremists.

  2. Essentially, the argument is that only opponents of abortion are allowed to conscientiously object on one issue. But I have to keep paying for the Defense Department.

  4. But the War Resisters League doesn't threaten civil war, disrupt public meetings, scream the "N" word at civil rights heroes, or advocate gelding the president and lynching politicians they don't like. Their influence is such that all they can do is make a point; they don't disrupt civil society.

  5. You're right K, there is no group that can compare to the the tea baggers unless it is the KKK. There might be some others, but the KKK sprang to mind immediately.
