Trolls

I was reading a fascinating story about a 'troll farm located in St. Petersburg Russia. Here's the link to the article... http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/07/magazine/the-agency.html

After reading it I decided to take a look at the 'audience' for my blog. You can find it on the Stats page under Audience. Here are the numbers for each country.

EntryPageviews
United States
90
Czech Republic
64
Russia
12
Germany
10
United Kingdom
8
Moldova
7
Luxembourg
6
Belarus
4
Ukraine
4
China
3

Over the years I had seen these numbers before and wondered why Eastern European countries would even show up as members of my Audience. I had shrugged it off and never thought about it again...until today.

  1. I have looked at that before and came to the same conclusion regarding trolls. I have tried off and on taking out all requirements to comment and shortly end up being inundated. So I have back on requiring an ID which eliminates all trolls but also many commenters. I feel that having that garbage plugging up our internet is not good; so lose the commenters but for a good cause.

    1. I've had Comment Moderation enabled for quite awhile now. It's the only way to control the trolls. Just checked my stats and I've had 22 page views since morning and none from Eastern Europe. Maybe they don't love me anymore?
