Taxation

I just read the papers and they both contain a litany of complaints about the lack of government services because of a lack of funds. I hate to say it, but there is a real solution for this…actually two solutions. First; reduce, control and halt governmental waste. OK. We know that won’t work. Those words are the property of politicians and are only to be used while campaigning. Never while in office! Second; raise taxes to pay for those things we need. Let’s face it; if we are a society oppressed by taxation, we certainly hide it well. Those $4 lattes are still being consumed in record numbers. Seen any Starbuck’s store with a “for sale” sign on it? The number of SUV’s on the road appears to be the same as last year, maybe even more. Home sales continue and new houses can’t be built fast enough. Best Buy stores are thriving! There is a ready market for $90 Kings game tickets. Theater receipts and CD sales are at an all time high. So where’s the problem? The problem is where it always is…greed.
