Some odds and ends from the local press and my opinions...of course I'm opinionated! We're supposed to be.
Talk of putting in a new (huge) parking garage and financing it through increased meter revenues. These people are addicted to the meter. Take away the meters and build FREE parking garages. The people will come downtown, flooding the marketplace with their dollars. I've seen it. Kansas City.
Scandal upon scandal at the University. And not a word from those in charge. The last press conference was in February. Perception is a powerful tool and you would think that the University would know how to use it.
The local paper, the Enterprise-Record, has a column entitled "Tell it to the E-R" and unfortunately, it isn't found on the E-R website. It's a transcript of the opinions of those who call the E-R; sort of a verbal/written letter to the editor, but not as well done as an actual letter. I may have to scan it some day and post it here. My daughter warned me not to read it and she was right...but I do it anyway. What a hoot! I can't describe it...I will have to scan it!
