Since I had finished my walk a little bit early, I decided to stop at Cal Java on the way home and enjoy a latte and a time to read the Chico News and Review. One of my habits...
And whenever Laurae is with me, we always turn to the Streetalk column where a common question is asked of 5 people and their photo & responses are printed. It's fun for us, as we get a good discussion going, exercising our minds a little. This morning's question was, "When did you first start cussing?" and it was asked at the Butte College Chico Center.
What a disappointment! Not one of the 5 respondents was able to say anything negative about the bad habit. In fact, most seemed quite proud of their potty mouths! For example, "I love the f-word. It's a stress reliever for me." and, "I don't curse around my parents. But I love the f-word. It embodies everything. You can use it for any circumstance."
Why would anyone want to use language that brands you as ignorant and uncaring?
To be truthful, I don't care to go to most public events because of the profane language that is far too prevalent in our society. Am I too sensitive? Maybe, but I won't be considered ignorant and I will take that kind of a brand anytime...
