I was watching Now on PBS last night and it was surreal to see film clips of government officials talking about the dangers associated with the condition of New Orleans flood protection and the possibility of a hurricane...the films were shot in 2002. And the Army Corps of Engineers budget for flood protection for the city had just been cut 80%.
"Members of Congress from both parties acknowledged on Friday that the federal response to Hurricane Katrina had fallen far short and promised hearings into what had gone wrong."
See! There ya go...people of New Orleans, you're gonna get some hearings. Now, don't you feel better?
