Krispy Kreme Fails

Some local news. Krispy Kreme has decided to give up on the Chico market. Being a great “after the fact” expert on why a business fails, I can tell you that it was location that did them in. They were located on a side road, adjacent to the freeway. So you could see the sign and you knew that Krispy Kreme was right there, but to get there, you had to find that same street, in the middle of a shopping center maze and then, since it was the very last business on that street, you had to drive by all sorts of other eating establishments…all tempting, before you arrived at the Krispy Kreme door. Evidence to prove my point? Well, I never made it to Krispy Kreme during their short tenure; I always ended up at In-n-Out Burger, next door. The promise of a good hamburger trumps a donut every time.
