More Data

News from the Washington Post and ABC News…
  1. 60% disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president.

  2. 58% believe Bush is not "honest and trustworthy."

  3. 55% believe the Bush administration "intentionally misled the American public" about Iraq.

  4. 64% disapprove of the way Bush is handling the situation in Iraq.

  5. 60% think that given the costs, the Iraq war was not worth fighting.

  6. 52% believe that the Iraq war has not "contributed to the long-term security" of the U.S.
I think they (the majority) are 100% right.

And on another note; the election of Tim Kaine as Governor of Virginia proves that you can be a Democrat and a Christian at the same time, despite the rhetoric of the wacko right.

  1. The even more pathetic thing is that the democrats come out worse than Bush in the polls. They need to have some ideas. I am really worried about the nation. I think it is becoming crystal clear that the two parties are failing us.

  2. Well you can call yourself a Christian and be a Democrat that is for sure. What the right misses is that it isn't our getting it correct on secular issues that somehow makes us worthy or righteous. God will sort it all out. I might be a Democrat if they weren't so forced wealth redistribution, pro death, and accepting of all sorts of immorality by declaring it is no longer immoral.

I really don't fit into the GOP either, especially with the religous right. It appears that politics has become somewhat of an idol to them.

  3. But I can call myself a can of soup, it doesn't make it so. If one is a Christian they should have some substancial problems with the platform of the democratic party. Same with the GOP to a lessor extent. How one could be okay with the right of a woman to kill her child and call themselves a Christian is beyond explanation. Murder is a fundemental, not like a disagreement over the best way to help the poor (by giving them a fish or teaching them to fish).

Yes they were religious and often correct, it was the spirit of the religious people that was their downfall. The right seems to get the issues right but not for the right reasons. Like the rich young ruler, he could keep all the law but in doing so he could not save himself, God is looking for submission of will. Something lacking in BOTH parties.

  4. What you're saying is that by calling yourelf a Democrat, you have bought into the whole package. Very exclusive club that way! I don't know about you, but I happen to know Republicans that don't buy into the current schemes of the party...should they surrender their party membership? Or should they try and affect change? Same with Democrats.

And regarding the spirit of the religious people? One can only hope that will cause the downfall of the current crop of Radical Right Wing Christian idealogues.
