Song of Myself

Song of Myself
This article is worth logging on and registering to read it...it's free. And it tells you all about the odd custom of the "State of the Union" speech. Did you know that it's a fairly recent bad habit? And that President Carter saved us from listening to it in 1981 by delivering it to Congress in written form?

Oh, if only Karl would follow Jimmy's lead and just mail us the darn thing!

  1. I have created my own tradition, I watch anything but the SOU. What a retarded concept we have giving the President a platform on which to run his campaign for another term or legislation.

I say the State of the Union is confused. Our country is divided ideologicly. We have a war being fought and the media wants to focus on two characters in a movie having gay sex.

  2. It might just be a case of following the money. A movie that gets 8 Oscar nominations will rake in the bucks. The producers are laughing all the way to the bank...

  3. It's an example of the left forcing tolerance on us. We have to not only tolerate it but celebrate it. It is very vogue to be metrosexual right now.

  4. Don't believe it...only the news media declares it to be in vogue. In downtown Orland, no one would know what you were talking about.
    Metro..what?

  5. You seem to have a preoccupation with directions...left, right, left. How about getting specific? Individual people are responsible, not social movements...

  6. For a man that over generalizes as much as you, I will point out that this is the kettle calling the pot black.

You are fooling yourself if you ignore the ideology in this country, there are degrees for sure but you are a leftist and I am to the right. That isn't a judgement of right or wrong just a fact. You may be conservative about somethings, just as I am liberal in some areas, however to a degree I am much more right of center than left.

I do wonder though given that you are protestant in a pretty conservative area, do you find that most of your fellow church goers are on a different page than you ideologicly?
