Something from the Daily Reckoning…
“The true cost of the war in Iraq: Since March 2003, the monthly cost of the war in Iraq has risen from $4.4 billion to $7.1 billion. That means the war will cost $266 billion more than originally projected - and ultimately hit $1.2 trillion. But what else can we do? As a declining empire, it seems that the only thing America has left to offer in a globalized economy is the soft warmth of her protection.”
And I was listening to an interview the other day; Terry Gross was talking to Economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin, the former director of the Congressional Budget Office. During that interview, he acknowledged that he found it quite difficult to think about a Trillion dollars and what it meant. The numbers are just too big! He said that he would use percentages of a single dollar instead. An American tax payers dollar.
"As a declining empire"
ReplyDeleteWell I'm not giving up yet, I know the left in this country can't wait until we are a third world nation. It'll be interesting to see who pays for all the social programs.... but wait, a good leftist loves forced wealth redistribution. There will be a revolution before that happens, atleast I hope there are still people in this country that aren't so apathetic as to let the socialist and communist take over. Oh oh, more ammo for the left to try and take my guns away.....
Did you read the article?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, "left" and "right" are directions. Not political movements.
That's funny Steve, I bet my former Poli-sci proffesor would disagree with you.
ReplyDeleteRead, I'm one of those knee jerk right wingers.
The words "political" and science" should never be uttered in the same breath...
ReplyDeleteAs far as your being a KJRW, I'm sure that somewhere in that ESTJ personality of yours, you still have the ability to think.
ESTP Steve....
ReplyDeleteI wish I could stop thinking for a change and just float along like many of my friends and family. Perhaps I could get some sleep without the help of Ambien if I coold turn the thinker off for a bit.
Sorry about that. But I would guess that your numbers for P are not that strong.
ReplyDeleteThey are, it shocked my couselor also. Apparenly I am not supposed to be the religious type either.
ReplyDeleteI was told the reason I make a good intuitive salesman is because of the "P".
