Film at 11

Did you see it? My oldest daughter was on television yesterday! Local television, so that means she was seen as far north as Redding and as far south as Yuba City. And she was doing “sound bites” on the weather situation. She was at work at the Little Red Hen nursery when the reporter questioned her about the effects of rain on the nursery business.

I thought she did quite well; not a trace of nervousness and her answers were quite polished and insightful…”be on snail patrol” and “well, we don’t have to water”. And you know…she was quite lovely as well.

I missed my one chance at television stardom some years ago…and in a bigger market, the greater Sacramento audience. I was standing in line at the airport one morning; at the very end of the line. That was when a very bright light came into view and a guy in an electric green suit put a microphone in front of me. “Sir. Can you tell…” That was all I let him say before telling him to buzz off and get a real job. Rude? You bet he was. It was 5 in the morning and I was last in line at the airport. What was he thinking? Now if he had approached me with a freshly brewed latte in one hand…I might have considered an interview.
