California Connected

Here's story on the rise of the independent voter in California and what it means...I watched this last night and was happy to hear that our numbers are now up to 23% of the total. 77% sheep and 23% thinkers! Oh, I know that was a cruel thing to say...but after watching this primary unfold, why on earth would you want to be a member of any political party?

I registered when I turned 18...picked my parent's party...not sure why...generally at that age you would choose opposite...but politics never interested me...now I love going to the local (small town) polling place...and all the lovely gray haired ladies look at the list for my name...see that it is opposite of the other voter in the household...and mentally do the tsk, tsk, tsk...of course mine is opposite of their party also I am sure...and I always want to say...I vote both ways ladies...or something equally silly...I vote with my intuition not my party...or the other party...and sometimes...I leave one blank...because I just don't have a strong sense either way...makes perfect sense to me...and besides...voting is done privately...shouldn't it stay private??? Do we really have to discuss it to no end????????????

  2. So sorry...but voting is never private! It's one of the most public things we do. That's why I find it disturbing that people, smart people...link their names to political parties. And that infers support of everything that party stands for. Imagine how much more responsible a candidate would be if he/she knew that the "party" would not be able to elect him or her. That it would take an honest effort on their part to represent ALL of their constituents. Of course that's just an opinion.
