Open the door!

A very warm morning. The thermometer tells me that it is 68° outside. And it’s only supposed to reach 97° today, a little short of the highs we saw over the weekend.

I have all of the windows open and the fans are going, hoping to drive out the stale (80°) air and bring in some cool. These are the days (and mornings) when I wish we had a whole house attic fan. I’ve seen them in action and they can drop the temperature in the house dramatically.

Bad cat continues to be “bad”. After disappearing for two days and worrying Laurae, she now hangs out with me again. And doesn’t seem to be at all interested in leaving. When we came home from church last night, there she was, waiting. I just went out to the garage and tried to teach her how to use her “cat door”, but she wasn’t the least bit interested, preferring instead to come back in the house and sit in the window, watching and listening to the waking birds.

While I was outside, teaching cat door techniques, I also took a moment to enjoy the dawn. Silver sky in the east silhouetting the trees in the orchard. The fading moon illuminates the western sky, giving me more than enough light to safely wander about the back yard. I love this time of the morning...OK, cat; it’s time for one more lesson and then I’m having another cup of coffee.
