Same old

“AP - More than two-thirds of the Army National Guard's 34 brigades are not combat ready, mostly because of equipment shortages that will cost up to $21 billion to correct, the top National Guard general said Tuesday.”

The sad part of this story is the fact that no one will be surprised at it.

  1. My brother use to be OPFOR down at Ft. Irwin during the first Gulf war. He was perplexed then at how unready the Reserves and Guard were. I can't imagine it has gooten any better since the first Bush began to dismantle the military and Clinton followed behind. I guess this is the legacy of the "Peace Dividend".

Perhaps it is time to start charging nations for their national defense. Pony up Deutschland!
