Scanning

I’m running an Ad-Aware scan this morning and will have to follow that up with some spybot scanning as well. I started getting unwanted and uncalled for web pages recently. A sign that some sort of spybot has made it past my firewall. Who are these people? Well, I found 59 data mining cookies and that’s about 59 too many! Now Spybot Search and Destroy has begun to update its detection database and it looks like I haven’t done that in quite awhile. The question is…why should I have to?

There are 44,284 possible spybots in the Search and Destroy database. Now that’s a lot! And it takes a long time to search your system, but it’s well worth it. I found 7 more that hadn’t been seen by Ad-Aware.
