Maybe?

A new day and a new week; plus there is talk of rain, at last! A small shower would be nice. I’m not holding my breath though; the probabilities don’t exceed 50%.

I was just reading a story about John Edwards, my second favorite candidate for President, and he mentions raising taxes to pay for increased health care for all. Finally! A politician with common sense and apparent honesty…you have to pay for these things and taxes are a fair and equitable way to do that.

I’ve never understood the minds of the anti-tax crowd. It’s as if a vital portion of their brains were missing. (Genetics?) I do know that if they spent as much time on curbing government excess, corruption and inefficiency as they do on fighting any new taxes we could have lower taxes for all. And it’s not as if we were a heavily taxed nation; not even close! If you look at the total taxation as % of GDP by country, we are ranked at #17. Looking at the statistics, I also noted that it’s the so called “civilized” nations that show up in the top 20 of taxing nations.

On another note; I don’t remember if I ever gave out a link for the “daily dose of imagery”, a photo blog. The link is for his archives and it’s well worth visiting. Some of his recent photos are of a publicity ice carving event paid for by Microsoft as they push out the new OS, Vista. Amazing ice photos.

Odd: the John Edwards link is unavailable? Or was when I tried it earlier.
