Feeling Good

No pain. All is well, physically, after the half marathon. But now I’m in a quandary, or should I say I’m faced with a quandary? I better look that up. Anyway, the problem is this; do I continue to race walk? And if I do, what kind of races will I enter? The thought of doing the Portland Marathon has entered my mind once again. For both medical and vanity reasons. I have a yearly physical scheduled for late October and doing (and training for) a marathon does wonderful things for your cholesterol levels and your overall health. My doctor loves it! And I get a great feeling of pride from it. But doing another one by myself is not something I look forward to…so I’m still debating it.

5K and 10K races are certainly doable and in the case of a 5K, 38 minutes (or less) after you start, you’re done! But finding 5K races for race walkers isn’t that easy. And 10K races are rarer yet.

As you might imagine; aging is very much on my mind these days. Aging happens. But how do I want to spend my old age? Overweight and barely moving? It’s too easy to fall into that trap now and it’s something I have to fight all of the time. But, with no one to walk competitively with, walking is losing its attraction as a ‘good health’ measure. Bicycle?

Maybe I will feel better about this after I see the race results from yesterday…but still no postings anywhere. What's the problem?
