Here I am once more. Same place, later time. That’s always good. I got some work done in the orchard yesterday, gathering up leaves, prunings and old walnuts. Then I made one run to the dump and now the truck is almost filled and ready for another trip.
With the price of diesel fuel now at $3 or more per gallon, the truck is an expensive form of transport. I don’t know how I could do without it though. There is always something that needs hauling and I probably use it 3 times a week just for that purpose and not for touring.
Among my e-mails this morning was this bit of information about WD-40. The name WD 40 comes from this, “Water Displacement #40” The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a "water displacement" compound. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40. The Convair Company bought it in bulk to protect their Atlas missile parts.
The e-mail went on to list all of the things that you can use WD 40 for, so I did a Google search and came up with lots of interesting stuff. Here’s the website of the company. Imagine buying stock in that company 34 years ago.
