Supermarkets were a topic of discussion for us the other day when we decided to shop at Food Maxx in
We still haven’t found the perfect store and I doubt that we will. Luckily, we are able to drive to most of the stores and combine those trips with other needs; saves gas. But what about those who can’t drive that far? They’re pretty much stuck with what Orland has to offer; Sav-Mor Foods. This is a discount version of the Holiday Store that used to be here. Unfortunately, they have steadily raised their prices after an attention getting opener with lots of low prices. Now, even Raley’s has better prices than Sav-Mor. So we have to hit the road again.
The list of available stores has now grown to five; Raley’s, Food Maxx, Trader Joe’s, Winco and last…Sav-Mor. A little planning and we are able to visit them as needed and save some money each time. Oops! I forgot Costco. Make that six stores. And each has its distinctive place in our shopping scheme.
So what does Food Maxx offer? Well, for starters… ice cream at less than $3 a half gallon! Natures Perfect Food and low priced. That’s reason enough to visit their store. And they have good prices on produce and canned goods. Eggs are lower priced but not as cheap as Trader Joe’s.
