More Bozo's

It’s time. A four mile race at an early hour (8:30) this morning. Then I have to find a new project for my fitness quest; another race or? There’s going to be a meeting of the Chico Running Club this week and I will attend; perhaps I will become motivated to continue the race walking. I can’t imagine not doing something! It does such good things for your heart and lungs, not to mention your bones. Walking, running, biking, weight lifting… I have to stay motivated.

(The internet connection couldn’t possibly be slower. What is going on with it? It’s most frustrating.)

When I finally got to the news this morning, I read that Rudy Giuliani thinks we should have a much larger army. And how would that happen? Standards are being lowered now to try and keep the army at its current levels. Would he pay them more? No; he’s a Republican so that won’t happen. Appeal to their patriotism? That’s not working now. And once again we have someone who knows nothing about the military life telling us how it should be done…

Giuliani did not serve in the military during the Vietnam War era; he received a student deferment while at Manhattan College and another while at NYU Law. Upon graduation from the latter in 1968, he was classified as "1-A", available for military service. He applied for a deferment but was rejected. In 1969, MacMahon wrote a letter to Giuliani's draft board, asking that he be reclassified as 2-A, civilian occupation deferment, because Giuliani, who was a law clerk for MacMahon, was an essential employee. The deferment was granted. In 1970, Giuliani received a high draft lottery number; he was not called up for service although by then he had been reclassified 1-A”

Don’t you just love these people? Of course the only written requirements for president are that the candidate must be ‘natural born’ and 35 years old. Wow! Tough standards; which explain why we get such bozo’s to lead us.

And I just read that Romney was seen hanging out with Pat Robertson this weekend. That would be the same Pat Robertson that brands Mormons as members of an evil cult. This issue should divide the “Christian” Right. They are on record as being against Mormons and Catholics…that would be Romney and Giuliani. But I have a feeling that the “Christian” Right will show their true colors and support the politically expedient candidate and do their best to ignore their past beliefs.
