Another stray thought. King George knew he was licked. Despite the fact that England was the premier world power at the time, he knew that no amount of force (money) would stop the insurgents. (Us)
Many generations later, Americans would be in the same kind of bind in places like Vietnam and in Iran. We had the most money, the most power…the most of everything and still the insurgents won. A ‘grass roots’ effort.
And today we still refuse to listen to the lessons of history. We have the largest defense budget in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD. Larger than all of the rest of the world’s combined. The insurgents don’t even have an Appropriations sub-committee. Yet… the current King George doesn’t get it. Force never conquers, it only delays the inevitable. Unless, of course, you are conquering places like Grenada.
