The Challenger

I’m trying to get a handle on the news of the day. My mind is chugging along in low gear and nothing seems to grab my attention. I would expect that it will take more coffee.

I suppose the weather is a good place to start. I see that we’re going to have high temps that are below a 100 for the next week. I know the wind is gusting this morning and I can see a cloudy dawn.

I’m about 60% complete in my reading of Only Yesterday: An Informal History of the 1920’s by Frederick Lewis Allen and it has been fascinating. I now know that whenever someone declares that whoever the President is, that person is the best of the best, someone that stands head and shoulders above the rest…I only have to say, Warren G. Harding. Just saying that name tells it all; any fool can be president and that fool was... Harding is ranked by most scholars as the worst President ever to serve.”

But… this current presidency is bound to challenge that title. In fact, after reading about Harding, he seems almost benign; comical and certainly not as dangerous as our current officeholder.
