Delivery Problems

Since downloading and installing BitTorrent once again, to obtain some ‘wallpaper’, I have wondered what else exists for me to download. Looking at some of the sites, I see that I can download just about anything! But it’s the size of the files that stops me. This Direcway satellite connection would be hard pressed to deliver a 1.4 GB movie in less than a day.

But, I see that Netflix is delivering movies that way now. With the right hardware setup, you can begin watching movies on your TV within a minute or two of beginning the download. The download continues while you watch. But the hardware will cost you. But if you don’t mind watching epics on the screen of your laptop, it’s not a bad deal…if you have broadband.

Yes, broadband is the way to go. Too bad I don’t have it. When?

I spent a few minutes reading some articles about the effects of global warming; flooding in Bangladesh and more disappearing ice in the Arctic. Not surprising at all, but what does surprise me, is the fact that there are still those who will deny the science. I suppose it’s because the effects are not always dramatic. It’s going to take flood waters lapping at the front porch before some people will admit that there’s a problem. All scientists, except for the quacks, agree that the earth is warming and we are suffering environmental changes. There is still disagreement as to what is causing it; though the clear majority thinks it’s ‘us’.

On a different subject; have you ever had a small piece of verse reverberating in your mind? It won’t go away and you’re not sure of its origin? Well, this morning it was “with bells on her toes”.
