Fires and your health

That’s a very orange sky out there this morning. The wind has died down and that will help with the fire. And we’re on the right side of the valley this time; the smoke seems to be hanging over Chico and Paradise this time. I can even see the few remaining stars.

We were reading the latest issue of the AARP Bulletin. This magazine, incidentally, is the same size as Cook’s Country, but not as weighty. And in the issue was another story about the benefits of traveling to foreign countries for elective surgeries. (Aren’t 99% of all surgeries, elective?)

One of the hospitals mentioned in the article was Bumrungrad International hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. They have a pretty classy website and I can imagine they will get a big boost in customers after the AARP article is read by the millions of AARP members.

If you just Google ‘bumrungrad international hospital’, you will get more links to sites that have a few words (both pro and con) to offer about the growing trend for surgery outside the US. Me? I’m thinking that I should apply for a passport now, while I’m healthy.
