Smokin'

Just a sliver of a moon this morning and it’s orange; this is caused by the smoke from the ‘Moonlight’ fire. We’ve still got a southwest wind (5-10 mph) and that will continue to pump smoke into the valley today. This only aggravates the gravelly voice and cough, the red eyes that accompany the almond harvest. No relief. And… I just spotted the first of the walnuts to fall from our trees. That means the walnut harvest will quickly follow. With even more dust for the valley.

It’s been 50 years now since I began my senior year in high school. Fifty years ago and around this season, summer was winding down and I had to abandon the beach, put my shoes on once more and go back to the classroom for the final time.

I was hoping to hear of a class reunion and I visited most of the internet sites that promote them, but nothing could be found regarding the Mira Costa HS Class of 1958.

I’m not a big fan of class reunions; I’m simply curious. A webpage with current pic’s and bios would do it for me. I don’t really need to get up close and personal with any of my former classmates. There’s a reason we haven’t communicated for the past 50 years.
