Fair is Fair

Fascinating news. It appears that the ‘average’ citizen of Pakistan is quite angry with the US. So what’s new about that? It’s because they know that we have supported Musharraf and he is only in power because of our money. Without us, they think they might have a chance at democracy. They might have a point.

But democracies are dangerous. Our founding fathers didn’t want any part of such a scheme and that’s why we live in a republic and not a democracy.

And more news. Apparently a top fund raiser for Fred Thompson has a criminal past. Convicted and sentenced, 20+ years ago. But we have a unique system of justice in this country. You see, he is still a criminal and will be one forever. It makes no difference as to how many years served or pardons given, even complete exoneration won’t make it go away in our society. Heck, just go to jail as a ‘suspect’ and you can expect to be known for your criminal past for a decade or more; that’s only if you are proven innocent in court. Found guilty? That’s forever!

Disclaimer (required): I am not a fan of Fred Thompson. I am not now nor have I ever been in jail. But… I’m guilty of being in favor of fairness. So, lock me up.
