Good news, good news

No rain, yet. But the forecast has plenty on tap for us during the next few days. And the chimney sweep has come and gone, leaving a clean chimney and I have stacked plenty of firewood…so let it rain! Oops! Just one more thing; I have to paint the top of the wood stove with one quick coat of the evil smelling heat resistant paint and then we’ll be good to go. Yes, it’ll be raining and we’ll have the windows open.

It’s early, 4:00 AM, and I’m getting ready for a cooking job this morning. I’ve volunteered to help with an early breakfast catering project at the church this morning and I’m cooking two of the cinnamon bun cakes. We’ll have about 20+ people for this breakfast and we’re having ham, eggs, toast, oatmeal and the cinnamon buns. This is one of the volunteer projects that I really enjoy doing and I’m hoping it will be more than a one time event. There’s something about cooking that I like.

Ever since I retired, I’ve been the cook here at home. It didn’t take me long to get used to doing that and now it seems perfectly natural. I’m still working on some bad habits of mine; I tend to buy far more than I need when shopping for meals. But, when cooking for just two, that’s always going to be problem. The good news; I’m getting better at it and I haven’t killed anyone yet.
