The long and the short of it

Once again I’m having a hard time getting my mind into gear for the daily grind of putting some simple words into my journal. There are far too many distractions. I read one article which leads me to another and then another. And there’s more! Anything and everything you want to know about a subject can be found if you look on-line. But of course you have to sift it to find the truth. And that’s a good exercise.

I guess that’s why I have such distaste for the televised news. And the History Channel. Never the whole story; just enough to titillate and get your eyes focused on the screen and not on the OFF switch. I was reminded of that power yesterday when I was listening to NPR’s story on the amount of drugs being found in water supplies. A caller from Phoenix reported that he had first heard the story on the evening news, but now that he was hearing the whole story, he really wanted to know the truth…which, of course, was far different than that being reported on television.
