That bit of news about the airlines made me think of a technology that hasn’t been adopted as it should; video conferencing. I remember when we first explored the possibilities of using it at PCG and it seemed as if it could replace many of those expensive business flights. Now, with broadband being available everywhere, except on the Planet Orland; you would think that would be the smart answer to airport madness. But then again, I’m still trying to figure out why we can’t have paperless offices as promised so many years ago.
I know for a fact that the country is crisscrossed with empty fiber optic lines. All available for data transmission if only someone would come up with the business model and software/hardware to create an instant video conference center for any sized business…and home.
