Facts are Facts

The neighborhood is noisy this morning. The sheep that graze behind us are voicing their frustration at something and I can hear the bawling of the small herd of cattle that live to the north of us. All of which brought the subject of alfalfa to mind. And from my bothersome treasury of useless facts, came this…alfalfa is an Arabic word that means something similar to ‘the best grass’. Arabic? Oh, oh! And we have millions of acres of it planted right here in the good old US of A. What will we do? Spray it with Agent Orange? No, better idea; we change the name. After all, we renamed ‘French’ fries to Freedom Fries; we can do the same with alfalfa. Our All-American cows deserve it! Freedom Grass for all!

And khaki...the word for American soldiers uniforms? That's from India.
