Despite the irritation of high prices on just about everything, I’ve found it to be fascinating (in a perverse way) to watch our culture change. For instance, our local car dealer, Northstate Motors, always displayed a long line of pickups and SUV’s in front of their dealership. And each one had the hood up, which gave me the impression that they were all ‘hungry’, each one with its ‘mouth’ wide open. Now, when you drive by, the lineup of trucks has been reduced by half and economy cars are currently front and center. The same thing is happening in parking lots. When we were driving our VW we were always irritated by the fact that no matter where we parked, someone with an SUV would park next to us and make it that much more difficult to back out of the parking space. Not now.
