Dear Steven

Hypercritical. That’s my normal state of mind these days as I read the news stories and the blogs. You have to be critical if you want to drill down through the fluff that overlays any substance. Nothing is as it seems.

And I may have been hypercritical this morning, perhaps even ‘petty’, but I received an email from the Obama campaign asking for $5. Because the Republicans had insulted ‘ordinary’ people like me. Hold it right there. Ordinary? I stopped being ordinary at the age when I became self-aware. I was in diapers. I have never been ordinary since and never will be. If you want my $5, you don’t lump me in with a crowd of nameless, faceless ordinary citizens. I don’t like crowds. And by the way; my first name is Mister and no, you don't get the $5.
