The weekend

Trying to wake up. I’m walking around and I’m typing… but not at the same time. The mind is lagging a few steps behind. Still snoozing. Another cup will help. And then what? The news? I’m not sure I want to go there today. I might be wrong, but it seems as if the news organizations: the media, takes the weekends off. Nothing much gets reported on until Monday. Yet, I have this feeling that our government is not taking the weekend off. I think that there are all sorts of meetings going on in Washington today and tomorrow; meetings that will affect you and me and there will be no one present to report on those meetings.

No, I’m not one that believes in ‘black helicopters’, but I do believe in black limousines. I’ve seen ‘em! Washington DC is filled with them and it’s behind the dark tinted windows of the limousines that the power resides. And reporters are not usually given a ride.

The stock market went up yesterday and stayed there, but I have this feeling that it’s only temporary. I’m eager to be proven wrong. And now that I’m reading the ‘day after’ comments, I see that the blame game is on. It was the Democrats! It was the Republicans! Gosh! You would think that there was enough blame to go around?

It seems to me that since it was the Republican Party that has held all of the power for 6 or more years out of the past 8; that they might have a large responsibility for the mess. Apparently not. Go figure!

And I was browsing through my journal from 2002 and found this note from January 6th of that year.

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 5 President *bush used his first major appearance of the new year today to declare to an audience in central California that Democrats would reverse the tax cuts of last year "over my dead body."”

When will we be rid of this fool? Two more years of his policies will have us bankrupt.”

I was wrong. It took six more years.
