I was reading the Chico News and Review yesterday, my favorite Friday morning read, and after finishing the first few pages, I turned to the back page where Anthony Peyton Porter has a column. OK, it wasn't a new column, it was reprinted from 2006. But it happened to be one of my favorites. He has caught my thoughts perfectly when it comes to the subject of 'pride'.
Now Mr. Porter is not one of the most popular columnists in town, though he is one of mine. He writes to make you think and not to be simply entertained. A lot of people don't like that. I've disagreed with him many times and sometimes I find his vulgarity bothersome…but he makes good points with his writing.
