Good Morning!

Friday is here once again and I can see the stars in the eastern sky when looking out of the study window. No clouds! As I remember it, the forecast is for a sunny day today; although the temperature may not get above 60, it should be pleasant enough.

Now that I have my first cup of coffee in hand, it’s time to read the news and the first thing I see is this headline from CNN. “President Bush on Tuesday added his voice to Republican criticism of Howard Dean's statement that the United States cannot win the war in Iraq.” The story goes on to report, "I know we're going to win," Bush told reporters at the White House. "Our troops need to hear not only are they supported, but that we have got a strategy that will win."

As usual, the headlines don’t match the true story. And it would be nice to hear that our troops are supported by this administration, which they aren’t. And a strategy to win would be a nice thing to have as well. But this administration doesn’t have one of those either. Post script: There was a link to an on-line poll available on the CNN page and I took it. It seems that over 60% of those who took the poll agreed with Dean.

There was a great cartoon in the Economist the other day, showing an elephant and donkey, arguing heatedly…with their pants on fire. Says it all!

  1. We are having a clear night ourselves, about 17 degrees after a bit more than a foot of snow fell today.
