I just ran across this headline… “US Vice-President Dick Cheney visits Iraq in what is thought to be his first post-war trip to the country.” Post-war? The war is over? Why didn’t someone tell me?
Yes since we are no longer battling the military of the nation of Iraq we are no longer at war with the nation, we are however battling Islamic Facist who would love nothing better than to kill an American Progreesive who they would view as decadent and immoral.
In some sense though you are correct if you beleive that the war in Iraq wasn't a war at all but a battle in the war on terrorism. However I think we have already lost that war because we are too fractured. The ACLU signed an unconditional surrender years ago. We are so afraid to offend the terrorist that we change the name of our wars (infinite justice).
If I weren't a Christian I would really have no hope. I love my country but I fear my countrymen.
Sometimes the American people remind me of the Island of Lotus eaters. As long as they have their toys, their imagined security, they can care less that people are being slaughtered in Darfur or any other place. Just look back to the killing fields of Cambodia and look at the American response. Then look at the response to baby seals being harvested by aboriginals for income.
