Power of the Press

The editor of the Chico News and Review used the “N” word in his column and called the president a “nincompoop”. I must admit that, at first, I was startled by this outburst of his; then, curious, I tried saying it a few times myself. “Nin-com-poop”. Then, “Nincom-poop”, very fast. I tried saying it slowly, drawing out the “nin” and finishing with a bold “poop”. And the more I said it, the more I liked the way it sounded…what fun! (But, what does it mean?)

  1. Maybe...but Free Speech certainly. And "nincompoop" has a certain, endearing quality to it. I mean, you could call your best friend a nincompoop and get away with it; not that Mr. Bush is my best friend...
