A good day…right after lunch we decided to run into Chico and see what was on sale at Bramley Cottage. The plan was to shop a little bit and then stop at Raley’s for some essentials on the way home.
I knew we were in for a good shopping experience as I found one (1) only parking place and it was right in front of the shop. And sure enough, in the back of the store and high on the wall was a nicely framed painting and it was 30% off. Sold!
Since we were not that far away from the library, we decided to see if they had any books for us to deliver to the Friends of the Orland Library. (A weekly chore) Sure enough, they had about 12 boxes, more than enough to fill the car.
Then it was time for Raley’s and once more the parking was perfect; the clerks were friendly and after cramming the groceries into any available space, we were quickly on our way home.
When we passed through Hamilton City, I decided to stop at the produce truck that sits next to the railroad tracks…and close to the taco wagon. I had always promised myself that I would stop to shop there and after 2 years of passing by, I finally made a left turn. Another good move. Tomatoes were ripe and only 99 cents a pound. He had Maui pineapples, whole pineapples and they were $1.75 apiece, or $3.99 for 3 of them. He said they were ripe and needed refrigeration if they were to last a week. At only $1.33 each, that was a bargain. The shopping was pleasant, the produce was fresh and no supermarkets were involved in the transaction.
Also, he was selling local (Orland) Star Thistle Honey for $7.99 a quart. That’s really good for you if you have allergies…but you need local bees to be effective.
With gardening and shopping…it’s been a busy day.
