Growing

The death toll for World War III increases; now over 3,000 for American forces and uncountable Iraqi numbers, far, far more than 3,000. The Times has a webpage with the names and faces of those who died while serving. I scrolled around the numerous squares, each representing a life and a death and was amazed at the number of Marines that had been killed. And of course I noted the deaths of so many Navy Hospital Corpsmen… I always take those deaths a little more personally. We were always told that on an enemy “hit list”, a Corpsman is second, right behind the squad leader.

Something else to look for in the squares; names and gender. The Jose’s and Manuel’s. The Linda’s and Sarah’s.
