Burnout

Who cares! The election is many months away and I’m already tapped out. Why would you, or I, elect any one of these bozo’s? (Bozo is not gender specific) But… we will. We did the last time around and I’m certain we will do it again. The last ‘good’ president? Washington.

Yes, I have been reading the political blogs again, plus I’ve had an earful of local politics lately. The Orland City council has been faced with a recall petition that would force four members off of the council. Since I live in the county, I have no vote in the matter, but I have to listen to the garbage being circulated. Small town or big country; those who run for political office share the same characteristics when campaigning. Speak now. Facts later… or never.

Random thoughts. Politics are universal. No matter the language or the color of our skin, politics are always part of the culture. And it’s because of the power that culture confers on the ‘best’ politician. Power and politics; different sides of the same coin. And power always attracts the worst in our societies. We know that intellectually and yet we vote for the one that seems to be the most powerful. Any perception of weakness dooms the candidate. Not surprisingly, a candidate that appears to think before acting is seen as being weak. We want action! Now!

We’re lost.
