Forecast

Restless. And it’s early. I’ve been awakened 3 or 4 times during the night by the winds and the sound of the rain on the patio cover. We received an automated phone call from the Sheriff last night, warning of high winds (80 mph) and possible power outages from this storm. We’re supposed to have emergency water and food, as well as lighting. Well, we have the food and the water, but small flashlights are all we have in the way of lighting. Surprising; we do have power this morning and it will be light in about 3 hours. I can get on-line for now and see what the forecast holds for us.

It’s really not all that cold, 47°. But the winds are at 25 mph right now with gusts to 51. That brings the temperatures down to 39°. And the forecast includes flood warnings for the Sacramento River. It was just a few days ago that we were commenting on how low the river was for this time of year.

OK, it’s time for coffee. If the power fails now, at least I have my morning brew. I can keep it warm on the woodstove.
