What to do?

Once again I’m stumped. I don’t have a clue as to what I will write in my journal this morning. Yes, my journal and my blog are sometimes synonymous. Not every time…just some times.

I’ve looked for inspiration everywhere and the best I could come up with this morning is the Mini Cooper Clubman S. That’s the car we’re ‘thinking’ about buying. It’s really just the latest in a series of cars that we’ve been ‘thinking’ about buying. Most are small and hopefully fuel efficient. But which one? Should we wait longer and see what come out in the fall of 2008? I do know that the prices are climbing as inflation sets in and so the dilemma starts to become critical. Buy now while inflation has just begun, (relatively) or wait for a better deal if the economy slows to point where even fuel efficient cars are a drag on the market? But, will that even happen?

And then there is this one…the Nissan Versa. Hmmm? Edmunds True Cost to Own needs to be considered here as we definitely made a mistake with our purchase of a VW Jetta wagon back in 2001. I think $38 to change the turn signal light bulb is way out of line, but you can’t change it yourself. Even low cost Jiffy Lube couldn’t change it for us.

  1. Love the mini-cooper, but the Nissan looks pretty good too. I have no idea what the maintenance is like on a Mini Cooper. Nissan has a pretty good rep.

  2. I see that the Clubman didn't make the coveted #1 spot on the True Cost To Own list. And the closest Mini dealer is in Sacramento. So...(I still love it!)
