Miscellany

I just read that the Labor Party in Britain suffered setbacks in their elections the other day. Another indictment against Mr. Bush. Obviously, the English are not happy with the fact that the Labor Party had been so chummy with Bush & Co. The same thing happened in Australia with the defeat of Mr. Howard. Refreshing! Now if only we can do the same in the next election and remove all of those who supported Mr. Bush. One can only hope…

It’s time and so we bought a new computer for Laurae. No, we didn’t spend any ‘economic surge’ money. We just couldn’t wait much longer. So, after comparing prices locally and on-line, we bought a desktop model at Dell. It will come with a 20” monitor and XP as the operating system. The laptop it replaces will be our traveling computer and will probably find a home in my backpack.

Once the computer arrives and I set it up, there will come the time I dread. I will have to export all of the data from the laptop and, somehow, make the new desktop resemble the old one. And of course it won’t work as planned. It never does. Printers? Network? An old DOS game; Scrabble? They will all require some tweaking. Adjusting. Wouldn’t it be great if buying a computer was like buying a good suit? You slip it on and it feels like it was made for you. You walk out the door. Stylin’!
