Art Thoughts?

I was thinking about art last night (Duh!) and the fact that there is so much of it that is good these days. How does one person become famous? 500 years ago, you had to be rich or have a rich sponsor to become an artist. Art supplies were tremendously expensive and all were made by hand. And who is a ‘famous’ artist these days? Or am I just out of the loop?

Even though I had already seen the encaustic pieces at Chico Paper Company, it was fun to examine them once more. Some were quite complex and almost 3-dimensional while others used a minimalist approach. And what I would like to see, somewhere, would be pieces using multiple media. Wax, acrylics, clay, glass, metal, paper, wood, etc. I also saw some nice ceramic and wood, ceramic and metal pieces at the Art House.
