California's Own Decider

Some headlines; drought declared in California. This is bound to revive the bad feelings between the wet north and the dry south. Especially so when it appears that no plan has been made to conserve water by rationing. Did I say rationing? Of course that brings up a memory from long ago; WWII and the rationing of just about everything! As we suffer through rising gasoline and food prices, I can’t help but think of what this nation would do if those things were rationed once again. Imagine having a collection of ‘gas stamps’ and cashing them in to buy enough gas to go to work.

Sort of the same topic; we can’t help but notice that there are less SUV’s on the roads these days. It’s not just because we have switched to a hybrid; a lot of people have. The streets of Chico seem filled with lots of shiny new and smaller cars these days. I’m sure that someone, somewhere, is keeping track of these kinds of statistics. And if you watch the informal auto sales, the vacant lots that attract do-it-yourself sellers, you will see a majority of large vehicles parked there. Hoping.
