Some possible bumper stickers that I read on a blog yesterday, "Try Reason, The Opposite Hasn't Worked" ... "Faith Based Voting Preys On YOU" ... "Yes, It Can Get Worse" My favorite is the last one. And notice that no one is named in these examples, yet you know… don’t you.
And I did get a glimpse of the ‘red state mind’ last night at dinner as I overheard some comments at the table. There’s a very real fear out there. These older voters are being asked to choose between a ‘black guy’ and a woman. And it’s obvious that they don’t think they have a good choice there.
I try not to be confrontational at events like this; a dinner out is supposed to be social and not political. So I don’t say any more than necessary. I try to appear neutral while conveying some sense of disapproval for the slurs I hear. It’s becoming difficult to do.
