Driving through to nowhere -
Chico is blessed with an 'alternative press'. Without the News & Review, there would be no newspapers at all in this area. Oh sure, there is the Chico Enterprise Record if you're only interested in who died last week. But if you want real journalism, this is the place to go. And here is a guest column that proves my point...
Brother, I'm only taking my news from the inside from here on out.If it's not coming from the men and women who are there, I'm not buying it...and journalists don't count, because they tend to have mixed agendas.
ReplyDeleteI fully intend to spread this article, with your kind permission. As I see it, if we can't do it as Garth recommends, we can't do it. And, given that we've pretty well spoiled our chances of doing it Garth's way by mixing our own agendas more than once over the years, I think we should probably try to get all the Garths out of there intact. Soon.
Please do spread his words...I was immediately struck by his common sense and I can't help but think that many others would be as well. In his account, he doesn't throw in nebulous things such as patriotism, he simply tells it like it is...it doesn't work! And his thoughts about reducing the military role to one of aid and not violence are the same thoughts shared by thousands of others, myself included, who only want good things for the Afghan people.
