I’m looking at a beautiful blue sky at this moment. Some thin white clouds along the eastern edge make the perfect accent. The weather is cooling off just a little bit and that’s always welcome. The perfect temperature? Maybe 90° with a 5-10 mph breeze. Yes, I would like that; on a 12 month basis.
That said, I have looked once more at the Google Alert mail I have set for any mention of Global Warming. (Google mails them to me automatically) There are some good articles on the warming conditions (using actual science) and a few of the usual “right wingnut” opinions. Now that science is being heard on this subject, those with a differing opinion are talking about the fact that this isn’t the first time that earth has experienced a warming and that mankind wasn’t responsible for the warming way back then and shouldn’t be held responsible for it now. Hello! This is a problem that we all face. Assigning blame is not what we should be doing. But it’s what the wingnuts do best…
I am on the fence on this issue. From experience I know that many a socialist believes that the best way to corrupt a capatilist society is by using animals, the environment, science, etc. for their political ideology. It isn't even debatable. I recently picked up an animal rights hand book at a hospice thrift shop. It made for some really good reading. It was mostly an attack on religion, capitalism, and America. Animal rights was the vehicle tha assault.
ReplyDeleteThere are definite weather changes. I was prepared for the next ice age without any energy (which is what I was force fed in elemetary school in the 70's and 80's). I think we all should be prepared for disaster because without regard to political partisanship they happen. I hate to see the earth being trashed but then I expect it living in a fallen world.
Oh, I don't know about that...very few things aren't debatable.
ReplyDeleteI take people and movements at their word, that's all I am saying. My brothers ex and her mother were and are proud socialist/anticapitalist and they have both explained the ultimate cause using the "Green" movement. They use to give me publications from their organizations, one being Earth First. The old woman supported spiking tree to kill and injure loggers. I remember Thanksgiving, after the blessing my brothers ex shouted out "Thank you trees, thank you phytoplankton!"
